ATTEND ESEOHE’S NEXT WORKSHOP AT THE LIVING THEATRE HERE: The Living Theatre Conservatory

The Living Theatre is hosting a four-day Butoh workshop series for performance led by African multimedia butoh artist, Edoheart (Eseohe Arhebamen). The workshop begins on Tuesday-Oct 20th and runs through Friday-Oct 23rd, 2009 from 10am-1pm each day. Workshop participants can attend single classes or the full workshop. Participants will be chosen to perform in a new multimedia work premiering at The Living Theatre.

    Workshop Description
A great workout and strong support method for dancers, actors, circus performers, interdisciplinary artists and butoh dancers who never took a basic course or have forgotten their basic butoh motivations.

This Butoh Foundations Workshop is an important introductory workshop to butoh ideas and exercises, providing necessary basis for more extensive butoh work and butoh performances.

Incorporates Eseohe’s unique Poetry and Sight butoh practice with the elements of Basic Butoh, Sight, and Vocal Butoh.

    • Basic Butoh exercises deal with tempo, continuity, and possession.
    • Sight exercises regenerate our ability to actualize alternate environments through meditation in movement.
    • Vocal Butoh exists in two parts:
      (1) using the body to create personal language for public interaction, and
      (2) deconstructing emotion by developing vocal expressions while in movement.
    • This workshop will also serve as a performance research lab for an upcoming performance to take place at The Living Theater. More information below.
